Textiles that are layered and quilted are endlessly fascinating to me: the weight and texture of each piece, the punch of colour, the design, and the double duty the medium provides. Quilts can be practical, but they are also art.
I am deeply committed to this medium. If I’m not sewing, I’m sketching, photographing my surroundings for inspiration, seeking out art that connects with my work, or ruminating over what I’m making—or what I want to make next. The quilted textile art I create is an art form with few boundaries. Ideas and inspiration surround me, and the methods of implementation are myriad. Textile art can be anything. It is unbridled creative expression—and that is very exciting.
