The Lookout 4 is the fourth in a quadriptych and is meant to be seen in a larger grouping. Each is a snapshot of the forest trail—stones, moss, lichen, earth, and leaves. To capture the forest’s color, texture, and depth, I used deep, earthy hues in cotton, linen and silk, with touches of gold lamé for luster. The composition is intricately pieced and densely quilted, resulting in a richly layered surface that nods to the rough, quilted character of the forest floor.
